Cash Discount / Dual Pricing

Two prices, one clear choice at the register.

Compliant programs that display a cash price and a card price so customers can choose — and processing costs get offset at the point of sale.

What is cash discount pricing?

Customers who pay with cash receive a discount off the listed price. The listed price already includes the cost of card acceptance. It must be clearly disclosed and posted to stay compliant.

What is dual pricing?

Two prices are shown side-by-side — one for cash, one for card. Customers see both prices before they pay and choose which one they want. Popular with restaurants, retail, and service businesses.

Is this the same as surcharging?

No. Surcharging adds a fee on top of a card transaction and has its own set of rules. Cash discount and dual pricing display the card price up-front. We'll walk through which model fits and stays compliant with card-brand and state rules.

Is it a fit?

  • You want to offset processing costs without raising prices for everyone.
  • Your customers are used to seeing cash prices (restaurants, food trucks, auto, service).
  • You're willing to display signage clearly at the register and on menus.
  • You want to keep your current terminal — many setups don't require new hardware.
